Pros VS Cons
PRO'S
* Open enrollment runs NOV 1st-DEC 15th every year
* The Affordable Care Act and Obama Care are the same thing
* As of Jan 1st 2014 it is illegal for insurers to deny you coverage or charge higher rates because of Pre-existing conditions.
* All major medical plans have to cover all essential health care benefits ( doctors visits, prescription drugs, hospitalization etc.
* ACA was designed to protect consumers from insurance companies
* More than 16 million Americans have health insurance through the ACA Marketplace.
* You may reimbursed for your health care cost. 80% of your insurance premiums must go towards medical care or improvements
* All Preventative Services have no additional cost
* If you work for an employer with more than 50 employees and are full time, they must offer you health insurance
CON'S
* You can only change plans during open enrollment
* The more you make the less assistance you qualify for
* Higher income levels are subject to higher deductibles and out of pocket expenses
* Doctors can choose to refuse/accept any insurance plan of there choice
* You can be fines if you don't maintain health insurance for 9 consecutive months
* Businesses are cutting hours to avoid health care cost
* Some employer plans are higher than ACA plans. ( if its less than 9.5% of your annual income you can not opt out.)
